Hi we are Jim & Amber, and our little homestead is HappyQuack Farms. We have planned and dreamed of this for many years...beginning with cutting up credit cards and closing accounts to become debt free so many years ago to buying antique meat grinders and old cast iron stove getting ready for the someday we would have a place to call home and begin our dream.
Well as the universe had willed it here we are so many years later. Still working each and every day towards a goal of self sufficiency and old fashioned living. We are firm believers in building everything from recycled materials & bartered or free items. Our farm may not be pretty, but its functional. Maybe someday well get to paint it all to be pretty, but pretty isn't our goal. Our goal here is to learn how to live substantially. We now have quite a few animals here at our farm and work to build a community in a time where we feel more people need to come together in this dislocated social media world.
Which brings me to why we built the forums here on our blog site. With everything going on in the world today. People are losing the personal touch. The heartfelt connections. We enjoy and prefer to deal with everyone with a smile and a handshake rather than a text message or an email. We wanted to give farmers and homesteaders a place where they can come share ideas and build a community. Have pot luck picnics and network like people used to do way back when. Lets bring back the old ways that worked for our grandparents for so long. Lets bring back old traditions of a local butcher, local seamstress, local farmer and the like. Lets build our community! Join Jim and I on our journey and lets uplift everyone together & get back to basics.
So with that I say welcome to our humble community. We're glad you are here, have a glass of iced tea or whatever and pull up a chair, or a shovel or whatever and lets get to know each other!
